Pamela Ferns : "Siberian Iris and their history in British Gardens”

Pamela will begin with a brief outline of what makes a Siberian Iris and what species fall under this heading. The talk will move on to the history of these species and how they came to be grown in British gardens as far back as 1597. Along the way we will encounter many well-known horticultural figures and how they were involved in bringing these plants into cultivation in our gardens. Pamela is a professional gardener with a diploma in Garden History. She is the holder of two National Collections - Iris series Sibiricae and Iris (Siberian) with the RHS AGM.
