A Garden for The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit in Aberdeen - Plant Appeal

Long time Friend of the Cruickshank Gardens, Heather Dale, has designed a garden for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit at City Hospital, Aberdeen. Children and teenagers with a wide range of difficulties including autism, anxiety, and eating disorders travel from throughout the Grampian region to be treated at the Unit.  The staff have been keen to develop a garden for many years as horticultural therapy.

Recently they have received a grant from the NHS Endowments Trust to bring this to reality with the help of Heather Dale Garden Design.  Staff and patients had plenty of great ideas, but lacked the practical knowledge to tie them together into a cohesive design for the space available.

A grant from the Endowments Fund was almost enough to cover the build, but to plug the gap Heather is hoping The Friends, and others, will be able to help by splitting and growing on plants from their gardens. These will be collected together at Solstice Nurseries on the South Deeside Road, who will also be donating some plants.
